News

As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) spreads, we are preparing contingency plans in the event of school closures as per the Governments guidance. To ensure the continuity of education during school closures so that no Pupil misses out on valuable learning time, all Parents/Guardians should ensure that their child has access to either a computer, laptop, tablet or a smartphone with internet connection.

A smartphone is not really recommended due to small screen size but it may be used if other options are not available.

Latest Coronavirus Update [19th October 2020]

Please read the following carefully and adhere to the School guidance so we are able to ensure the safety of our staff and students during this time of uncertainty.

Safety precautions when travelling to and from the School

We understand our students travel far and wide to attend our School and parents may have made arrangements between themselves where students living in close proximity may be travelling together, however, we would just like to reiterate the importance of wearing masks when travelling with anyone outside of your household. Rules for shared travel are the same as those required when using public transport and if social distancing cannot be observed, PPE should be worn.

Inhalers

If your son uses an inhaler, please make sure that he has one with him at all times while in School. Also, if you have not provided one already, a spare one should be made available to the School (please check the date to make sure it can still be used). Clearly mark it with your son's name, year and group and send it into School with your son for the attention of the first-aid team so it can be stored safely in the medical room.

Isolation-Siblings

As you are aware, the government has commenced a tier system to help assess the covid spread in different areas up and down the country. Walsall is in tier 2 which is the ‘High’ level and we must adhere to the guidance provided to us by PHE and WPH. We have already seen individual students as well as year group ‘bubbles’ sent home to isolate due to a positive case of Covid-19 or being in contact with someone who has Covid-19 since we opened in September and this number is bound to increase. We need your support to keep the School open for as many students as possible and in order for us to do that we need you to make sure you are keeping your son(s) at home if he/ they are displaying any of the symptoms shown below:
•A new, persistent cough•
A high temperature of 37.8 degrees or higher•
A loss of taste/smell

Although many parents are adhering to this guidance, we are finding there are still some students coming in to school feeling unwell. This is very concerning. Students coming into school who are not fit to be in school are putting other students at risk, increasing anxiety levels amongst the rest of our staff and students and putting unnecessary pressures onto our administration team who are having to assess, observe and treat students when and where necessary as well as continuously trying to contact parents and arrange collection of their son.

Please do remember, if you have been requested to collect your son from School because he is displaying symptoms, follow the steps below:

  • You will need to make travel arrangements and collect him immediately.
  • Arrange for her to be tested
  • Keep her at home until you receive the test results

If the test is positive:

a) Inform the School immediately by calling 01922 6 during school hours. You will be asked a few questions and informed of the isolation period and date of return. Your son will need to isolate for 10 days since the onset of symptoms and the whole family must isolate for 14 days.

b) You MUST keep your son and any siblings he has at home

c) Call in or email the school with the result

d) Inform any Schools/ Madrassahs your children attend that there has been a positive case in your family so they can contain any transmission of the virus

e) At the end of the isolation period, only send your son(s) back to School if they are clear of any symptoms and have been clear of a high temperature for at least 48 hours

If the test is negative:

a)Inform the School by calling 01922 626829 during school hours.

b)Do not send your son to School until they are clear of any symptoms and have been clear of a high temperature for at least 48 hours.

Masks to be worn in communal areas

Due to the increased risks of transmission, we highly recommend students wear a mask in communal areas. Please ensure masks are suitable and fit well. Masks should be stored in a plastic bag when not in use so they remain safe and clean. Masks are also permitted to be worn in classrooms if students wish to do so. We would like to reassure you that we are doing all we can to ensure the safety and hygiene precautions we are taking at our School are robust and we would like to thank you for your continuing cooperation.
